altered canvas frame

I love it when you can reuse stuff that was potentially going in the bin I had a old torn canvas that the kids had painted on and I thought why put it in the bin when I can make it beautiful again

I started by talking all the canvas off the frame as it was torn and couldn’t be fixed.

I then painted the frame with gesso and added the clay moulded pieces

Then I applied another coat of gesso before applying the plaster paste to smooth out the edges of the clay moulded pieces. Then I decided on the texture paints old walls I used the bluey grey and the cream and using a old brush dabbed it on starting with the darkest colours first then the lighter colour

Then to finish it off by adding the wax with my fingers over just the ridges of the clay moulded pieces

Then after letting it dry I used a thick bit of cardstock and applied my transfer in the centre of the white cardstock and then clear gesso over the top to stop the transfer from coming off or flaking off then next I simply added some good glue to the back of the frame and stuck the cardstock on.
